A Family Member Shares their Hospice Experience

April 26, 2021

Everything we do is aimed toward helping patients and families find comforts during the difficult times at the end of life. There is nothing more rewarding to us when we are told that we’ve made a difference, so when a family member shares how we’ve helped them its truly humbling.

Thanks to Silverado Hospice family member Vicky for this wonderful review she recently left on your Yelp page:

“My mom turned 96 last December. She was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and a leaky aortic heart valve early in the pandemic. She had a lovely, caring cardiologist who quickly ran out of options other than sending my mom to the hospital every few weeks for IV tune ups. (She was in sync with the second opinion cardiologist.). My mom was weak, often short of breath and unable to take her favorite neighborhood walks. Because of the pandemic we were trying to limit doctor appts but we were taking her to see her cardiologist weekly. My mom was not doing well and after too many unpleasant ER trips, I began contacting hospice companies. After speaking with Rustin at Silverado, we signed my mom up. He is super knowledgeable, professional and responsive. He consulted with his doctors and got back to me with some options that seemed really smart. Silverado not only saved my mom, she is thriving!!! Last week marks 6 months with Silverado and my mom truly got her life back. AMAZING!! She takes walks, plays cards, enjoys her days and sleeps peacefully through the night. Her hospice doctor and nurses made a home plan that includes the treatment my mom received at Cedars PLUS. We LOVE her primary nurse (Rosina, my mom’s angel) and everyone who we have had contact with at Silverado. This place is full service. Incredible!! When my mom had a middle of the night emergency, a skilled nurse came over right away. Her COVID vaccinations were easy-peasy and that’s a huge relief too. I highly recommend this hospice!!!”
