Silverado Hospice Appreciates our Social Workers

March 20, 2015

Social Work Month is celebrated each March and is an opportunity for social workers across the country to illustrate the importance of the assistance they bring to society. Social workers are consistently working to address persistent social problems and have learned that all people, no matter their circumstance, may at some point need assistance that only a social worker can provide.

At Silverado, we believe that social workers are an essential part of the hospice team. They have in-depth knowledge and expertise in working with ethnic, cultural, and economic diversity, family and support networks, interventions across the life cycle, and navigating the health care systems. They are concerned with enhancing quality of life and promoting well-being for patients and their families.

Silverado Hospice of Dallas/Fort Worth has three social workers on staff that work in various positions. Jennifer Reagan, LMSW works as our Administrator, Larissa Mellnick, MSW works as the Patient and Family Care Advocate, and new to our team, Nora Gonzalez, MSW works with patients and their families as the full-time Social Worker.

Our social workers were honored at the monthly all-staff meeting with gifts from the hospice team as well as a round table of praise. Social Workers received decorative lamps as a representation of them being the “light” in the lives of our patients and families, but also within our hospice team.
