Introducing Emma!

October 5, 2021

A certified Therapy Dog 🐶

Animals bring joy to people in their own special way, which is why we make therapy animals one of the many parts of our hospice care. Emma is the latest therapy dog to help our patients with her gifts, and her human parents couldn’t be prouder!

“My husband and I are both retired physicians,” says Lori, Emma’s ‘mom.’ “We do a lot of paid and volunteer work with many unique communities. We have worked in senior centers, prisons, homeless communities, Holocaust survivors and refugees to name a few,” she adds. Details about her and her husband’s work can be found at  http://www.thehumanelementproject.com.

According to Lori, Emma’s journey was quite an eventful one:

During COVID, we rescued a wonderful beagle/retriever mix pup, she is 30lbs of cuteness and freckles. She loves to be petted, eat treats or just sit alongside you looking cute! She was rescued from a Korean meat market and brought to the U.S. by L.I.F.E. Animal Rescue. We trained her and thought she would be a wonderful asset to the work we do because of her sweet temperament. She has passed her AKC Canine Good Citizen test as well as her testing for certification with the Alliance of Therapy Dogs.

Emma and her parents are eager and ready to serve our patients in the San Fernando Valley.
