Veterans Day and Houston Stand Down for Homeless Veterans
This year, on November 11th, Silverado expressed our appreciation for our veteran patients by presenting them with a Certificate of Appreciation as well as patriotic lap blankets and yummy cookies. Below is Staff Sergeant Edward Faulkenberry who served in the Korean War. We thank you, Edward, and all veterans and their families for your service!
For the second consecutive year, on October 5th, members of Silverado’s H.U.G. Bereavement Support Group volunteered to help with Houston’s Stand Down event supporting homeless veterans. Stand Down is an annual event held in cities across the nation for the last 25 years. Silverado’s volunteers worked at the Basic Needs tent, distributing toiletry kits, socks and underwear to veterans. It was a warm day in Houston and e even made sure our veterans’ canine companions were well hydrated!
