Celebration of Life Event
May 20, 2018

In memory of loved ones
Silverado’s South Houston Hospice held our annual Celebration of Life event on April 22, 2018 at Sugarland Mortuary. Our patients’ family members and friends gathered to remember their loved ones and celebrate their lives. This year’s event theme, “Let Love Grow”, encompassed the belief that:
“After the clouds, the sunshine; after the winder, the spring; after the shower, the rainbow; for life is a changeable thing. After the night, the morning, bidding all darkness cease, after life’s cares and sorrows, the comfort and sweetness of peace.” -Helen Steiner Rice
We enjoyed homemade grilled and fried chicken, mixed vegetables, sweet potatoes and finished with delicious peach cobbler.
Director of Patient Care Services, Rochelle Hray, Spiritual Care Counselor, Daniel Addis, and Volunteer Coordinator, Stephanie Puariea, led the ceremony to share words of memory, support, and love for the patients and their families and friends. Everyone was invited to write a word or individual’s name on a wishing stone. Then take it home to place in their garden, their workspace, or where they desired. Children had coloring sheets and bubbles as well to express their creative side.
It was a beautiful spring day. Everyone enjoyed themselves and took home “Forget Me Not” seed packets to watch their love continue to grow.
